EQUI-VITA is a fermented and blended liquid product incorporating plant and beet extracts and berry juices, organic acids, fruit acids, essential oils, and herb tinctures.
EQUI-VITA is a natural product and can be safely added to the feed and the drinking water of adult horses, pregnant mares and foals.
The concept of feeding an acidic, low pH product to horses is not new, apple cider vinegar has been fed with good effect for many years here in the UK and also in mainland Europe, cider vinegar and other fermented fruit products are still used, as is grape juice.
The thinking with EQUI-VITA was firstly to create a product with a naturally consistent low pH, then, using this as a base product, to add in other ingredients which would benefit body metabolism and overall health and development potential of the horse, helping it to eat plenty of roughage. Enhancing the horse's ability to digest more roughage keeps the metabolism healthy.
Why should a low pH product be beneficial? By creating a low (more acidic) body and blood pH, there is less opportunity for the pathogens to develop.
When EQUI-VITA is applied to feed and roughage, it lifts the intake dramatically, owing to the fact that EQUI-VITA, being slightly acid, creates plentiful supplies of saliva. Saliva does two things - firstly, it stimulates appetite, secondly, salivation is the first enzymatic stage of digestion. Try eating chips without vinegar, it's not easy! EQUI-VITA also works further on with digestion in the stomach.
Plant extracts, these being beet juices, hop extracts and fermented plant extracts, all have different properties, some clean the blood whilst others work on the liver and kidneys to expel waste and impurities out of the body. Others have a very strong effect on the mucous membrane and actually stimulate and cleanse the reproductive tract, clearing out retained cleansing and discharge. The final group tend to be the most noticeable as they help to keep the eyes, skin and hair looking healthy.
The herbal/botanical extracts are again chosen for their specific activity on the vital body organs, liver and kidneys etc. Some have a beneficial effect on the respiration, others are widely acknowledged for their ability to produce strong heats and good conception rates, and two of the herb tinctures are specifically added to keep the horse calm and less stressed.

The essential oils are predominantly there to enhance taste, aid digestion and to keep the heart, lungs and body metabolism in optimum condition.
EQUI-VITA is easy to use and needs no expensive or specialized equipment to administer.
EQUI-VITA can be added to roughage, hay, molichop etc and dry feed.
EQUI-VITA can also be added to the water supply. Application directly onto roughage or feed is the preferred method, as the aim is to increase intake of roughage.
The standard application is 100 ml per horse per day. Sometimes, it is necessary to double the daily rate to 200 ml per horse per day and keep on this level for at least 2 weeks, then reduce to the standard level of 100 ml. This higher level will accelerate the action of Equi-Vita. Equi-Vita is safe to use and cannot be overdosed.
EQUI-VITA has also been used as a drench on individual animals, it is good at getting unthrifty animals eating again and has been used to clean up discharges.
EQUI-VITA is not a vitamin, nor a mineral, it is used as an extra to cleanse the blood, increase intake and aid digestion. It will help the horse get more goodness from its feed, it is not recommended to remove vitamins, minerals etc, just let the horse enjoy a quality of life.
EQUI-VITA is best used as part of a programme, together with EQUI-GEX, a marine and plant extract powder product, the activity of these two products combined gives the horse a tremendous boost, but this is done using natural ingredients, no hormones or other funny products.
