More Detail about KENNEL-GARD:
The use of a mixture of organic acids, essential oils and herbs to cleanse the air and create a fresher, ammonia-free environment and reduce disease pressure is not a new concept. The concept involves misting specific organic acids to lower the pH in the building housing animals, to create an alien environment for bacteria and viruses, to restrict their ability to multiply.
Kennel-Gard details: The organic acids are dispersed into the housing, creating a mist which cleans the air and coats the inside of the building with low pH droplets, thus rendering it unsuitable for pathogenic growth. The essential oils and herbal content ease breathing, and reduce coughing and stress.
Kennel-Gard's twin products, Stable-Gard, Air-Gard and Loft-Gard are also used successfully on horses, cattle, pigs, poultry and game birds during housed periods. Kennel-Gard is based on natural inputs and when used correctly creates no risk to those using the product. The organic acid content does not cause any damage to structures, metalwork or equipment in the building. Dilution rate is 1 part Kennel-Gard to 10 parts of warm water to make up a 10% solution.
Fogging with Kennel-Gard is a valuable addition to any animal health programme, whether an antibiotic or a natural therapy is used. Anything that can reduce pathogen pressure and lower the subsequent higher stress level is bound to aid quicker recovery.
Application: The aim when using the product is to make a dense fog in the building. This can be achieved by using an electric fogging machine. When fogging smaller areas, a knapsack sprayer or a pressurized garden sprayer can be used to good effect, and small kennels and cages can be misted with a trigger spray.
To achieve the best results, angle the fog approximately one metre over the heads of the dogs being fogged, allowing the mist to mist to be readily inhaled before it disperses. Depending on the severity of the problem, kennels can be fogged every day, then reduced to twice weekly, this being the normal application timing for fogging with Kennel-Gard.
Kennel-Gard can also be used as a pre-entry treatment in boarding kennels to ensure dogs enter a clean, fresh, sterile zone. This is particularly useful when dogs come in contact with other dogs from different kennels.
